Our Impact Philosophy

La Chispa was created to open doors for young women across the Americas—connecting women in the U.S. with emerging leaders across the diaspora through mentorship, coaching, and creative exchange.
We believe that empowerment grows through proximity, dialogue, and shared knowledge—not dependency.

In Cuba, women make up nearly 60 % of university graduates, yet only 20 % of small business owners. Social and economic barriers—including limited access to professional guidance and networks—often keep their potential untapped. La Chispa bridges that gap by creating mentorship pipelines that pair U.S.-based professionals with young women in our host countries, providing leadership coaching, entrepreneurial education, and personal development tools that can be applied locally.

Our focus is not on monetary transfers, but on skill transfer—supporting growth through community, creativity, and shared experience.

Our goal is simple:
To help women gain the confidence, skills, and connections to transform opportunity into independence.
We believe change begins when women on both sides of the water walk together, share what they know, and light the spark for the next generation.

We’re not just investing in programs. We’re investing in women who invest in each other.

Our Pillars

Coaching, Mentorship, and Workshops

La Chispa begins with sisterhood. Through cross-cultural mentorship and creative workshops, young women in Latin America build confidence, sharpen their ideas, and step into leadership alongside mentors in the United States who gain hands-on international development experience. This is shared empowerment led by women who grow together and see each other fully.

Fan the Flame

Through our Fan the Flame initiative, supporters are paired with a young woman to help supply her first set of tools—not money, but hair dryers, sewing machines, laptops, art supplies—whatever she needs to launch her dream. It’s personal. It’s practical. It’s power, placed directly in her hands.

Reinvestment in the Cuban Economy

La Chispa fuels circular economies by cultivating women who hire, pay, and uplift one another. Our girls don’t just start businesses—they keep resources flowing through homes and neighborhoods. What comes in, stays in. What stays, grows.
